New trail facility opens in Ridgeland

RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) - A new facility for the multiuse trail system in Ridgeland officially opened Tuesday.

The facility is located at the trailhead at the intersection of Rice Road and Harbor Drive. The 1500-square-foot pavilion includes two picnic tables, two restrooms, new trash receptacles, fresh landscaping, bike racks and a bicycle service stand. The parking lot was also resurfaced with recycled asphalt.

The project cost $170,401 and was funded partially by a $100,000 recreational trails program grant. Construction started on the project in November.
