17th Annual Father-Child Fishing Tournament June 15

On Saturday, June 15, join the City of Ridgeland Recreation & Parks Department for the 17th Annual Father-Child Fishing Tournament at Old Trace Park on the beautiful Ross Barnett Reservoir.

MDWFP to host Camp Fish at Turcotte Education Center

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will host Camp Fish at the Turcotte Education Center in Madison County June 17-20.

Camp Fish is open for children ages 11 to 15. Twenty-five applicants will be accepted. The camp aims to introduce youth to fisheries conservation, management and sport fishing.

Holmes Community College holds "Spring Fling"

RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) - The Holmes Community College Ridgeland Campus held it’s “Spring Fling” Wednesday.  Several clubs and organizations set up booths for activities.

MDOT was on hand to teach the students about the dangers of drinking and driving, using devices like the Fatal Vision Goggles, and the Seatbelt Convincer

The Mississippi National Guard was also scheduled to set up its inflatable Jousting Ring and Boxing Ring.

Crawfish was on the menu for those who got hungry.

Youth Fishing Rodeo Saturday at Turcotte Ponds

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Fisheries Bureau and Canton Parks and Recreation will host a youth fishing rodeo Saturday at Turcotte Education Center.

The fishing rodeo is open to youth 15 years old and younger. The education center is located on Highway 43 just east of the Natchez Trace on the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

iCan Bike camp June 3-7

iCan Bike camp June 3-7

Ridgeland Recreation & Parks will host a five-day camp this summer to teach individuals with disabilites to ride a two-wheel bicycle.

The iCan Bike program is part of the non-profit organization iCan Shine. The camp consists of one 75-minute session per day and is scheduled for June 3 to 7 at Ridgeland High School.

The program used adapted equipment, trained professionals and volunteers, according to Ridgeland Recreation & Parks.

Annual Bike Rodeo May 4 at Old Trace Park

Annual Bike Rodeo May 4 at Old Trace Park

Bring your bike and helmet and join Indian Cycle on Saturday, May 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Old Trace Park for the annual Bike Rodeo. Activities will include an obstacle course, bike decorating, a bike parade and other fun bike activities.

This year’s Bike Rodeo will be held in conjunction with the Natchez Trace Century Ride. Registration is NOT required for the Bike Rodeo but IS required to participate in the Natchez Trace Century Ride.
