RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The City of Ridgeland announced Monday it will have an amnesty program Feb. 11-22 for people with outstanding warrants for unpaid fines due to traffic violations, misdemeanors or criminal offenses.

The program will allow individuals with outstanding fines, who have had an arrest warrant issued against them, to pay the fines with the possibility of having the contempt of court fees waived.

Under Mississippi law, a person convicted of contempt of court faces up the six months in jail and/or an additional fine up to $1,000.

The program is being offered by the Ridgeland Police Department in conjunction with the Ridgeland Municipal Court and the Ridgeland City Prosecutor.

Persons who have an outstanding warrant with the Ridgeland Municipal Court or who wish to determine if there is an arrest warrant for them may contact Ridgeland Municipal Court Services at 601-853-2001.The Municipal Court Services Building opens at 8 a.m., Monday through Friday and is located at 115 West School St.
