8 arrested in Madison Co. drug investigation | News

MADISON COUNTY, MS (WLBT)- The Madison County Sheriff's Department has arrested eight people as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Operation New Day has also resulted in the confiscation of marijuana, crack cocaine and $22,000 in cash.

The arrests and drugs were found during search warrants served at four homes and a traffic stop.

Sheriff Randy Tucker says, "This is something were going to continue.  I was very adamant about that when we took office that we were going to strengthen our narcotics efforts.  We've done that."

The drug investigation included officers making undercover buys.  Some of the drug purchases were made near churches and schools, which could enhance the charges.

Sheriff Tucker says, "Obviously what you see here won't end up in the arms of our kids in our schools."

The sheriff's department says they have arrest warrants for up to five more individuals.

• Eric C. Brown
• Adrian D. Reed
• Alonzo Reed Jr.
• Breda Johnson
• Marcus Stewart
• James Jackson Jr.
