Madison County busts pot growing operation | News
MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now)- A tip paid off for Madison County narcotics agents. Authorities say someone spotted pot plants growing behind a Canton home.
Two bright green marijuana plants were found after agents received the tip. They went to a home on R.B. Harris Drive in Canton armed with a search warrant but apparently didn't need it.
Darin Way, 46, reportedly gave them permission to search his home and then lead them to a pot garden, plus a cache of stolen goods.
"We recovered a lot of Stihl chainsaws, weed eaters, blowers. He's a 46-year-old white male. He's been here about a year. Made himself at home evidently but since we don't allow that we arrested him," said Sheriff Randy Tucker.
Agents recovered the small pot plants as well as an elaborate grid used to grow and conceal the plants from view. The value was place at $3,000 to $4,000, but if the plants were mature, the pot would be worth more on the street.
