PRVWSD requests input at community meeting

The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District needs feedback from the community to help prepare a comprehensive master plan for the district's properties.

The district has contracted with the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District to create the plan, according to a press release from the PRVWSD. The district plans to use the master plan as a guideline for future property use.

The PRVWSD is seeking input from the community on future growth and use of lands within the district at a community meeting Monday, May 13.

Canton mayoral debate Monday

The Canton Chamber of Commerce Main Street Association will host a mayoral forum Monday at the Canton Multipurpose Center.

The six mayoral candidates will participate in the forum, which starts at 6:30 p.m. A meet and greet will be held from 6-6:30 p.m.

WLBT and Fox 40 reporter David Kenney will moderate the 90-minute debate.

The candidates are: Arnel Bolden (D), Fred Esco Jr. (D), Greg Green (D), Chip Matthews (R), Lorraine Levy (R), William Truly (D, Incumbent).

This event is free and open to the public.

MDWFP to host Camp Fish at Turcotte Education Center

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will host Camp Fish at the Turcotte Education Center in Madison County June 17-20.

Camp Fish is open for children ages 11 to 15. Twenty-five applicants will be accepted. The camp aims to introduce youth to fisheries conservation, management and sport fishing.

Youth Fishing Rodeo Saturday at Turcotte Ponds

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Fisheries Bureau and Canton Parks and Recreation will host a youth fishing rodeo Saturday at Turcotte Education Center.

The fishing rodeo is open to youth 15 years old and younger. The education center is located on Highway 43 just east of the Natchez Trace on the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
